In WONKA, Timothée Chalamet stars as Willy Wonka — playing a young version of the character originated by Gene Wilder in the 1970s. This movie is a singing, dancing, comedy spectacle, with fabulous effects that bring Wonka's remarkable confections to life.
The movie also features relative newcomer Calah Lane as the orphan Noodle, and her world-weary character is the perfect counterbalance to Chalamet's almost unrealistically upbeat Wonka. We talk to the two stars about creating their version of Roald Dahl's classic character — and we also speak to co-star Keegan-Michael Key, who plays a weak-willed police chief, and writer/director Paul King, who brings his PADDINGTON touch to this story.
