Tom Holland stars as treasure-hunter Nathan Drake in UNCHARTED, and after years of development, the movie is in theatres now! We talked to Holland and co-stars Mark Wahlberg and Tati Gabrielle to learn about how they created this globe-trotting adventure based on the long-running video game series.
Crucially, we've wondered about Holland's own experience with the games, and how that factored into bringing Drake to the big screen. In the video games, Nolan North provided the voice and physical motion capture for Drake. Holland's version is younger and different in a few other ways, too.
"We worked very closely with [game designer] Neil Druckmann and [publisher] Naughty Dog… and came to the conclusion that I shouldn't try to mimic Nolan. Because then we would just be recreating something that has been done in such a fantastic way. We wanted to bring something new and unique to the character, so I was given some creative freedom to sort of recreate this character in a new and fresh way.'
