Some movie subjects are evergreen. For instance, audiences never get tired of watching mob guys doing mob things, and often meeting gruesome mob ends. By the same token, it’s also a sure bet that seeing characters excel at a rare craft will please audiences.

THE OUTFIT is a movie that puts those two things together, making it a sure entertainment bet. Who among us can resist the tension of watching a tailor of fine clothes tussle with a bunch of mobsters? No one, that’s who!

THE OUTFIT tells the story of an older gentleman who was once a fancy tailor on Savile Row in London. A personal tragedy pushed him to relocate to Chicago, however, where he and his assistant end up making outfits for a decidedly criminal clientele. They probably have some non-criminal clients, but not enough to float the business. You know how it is out there. Gotta make bank any way you can.

Making outfits for criminals is a dangerous business. One night, a cabal of dueling mobsters all converge at the tailor’s shop in an effort to capture a valuable item. The tailor must negotiate his way out of a very dangerous situation using the only things he has: A polite disposition and some awesome scissor skills. And also maybe a secret or two.

THE OUTFIT will hit theaters on March 18, just in time for spring. This means while you’re buying your ticket to THE OUTFIT, you might also be buying new outfits of your own. Maybe even having them tailored by a quiet, older gentleman. This is what we in the biz call synergy. It also could just be a scheduling coincidence, but let’s go with synergy.

A tailor? Of course! Oh, a TRAILER. There's also one of those, and it’s a real nail-biter. You can watch it just above.

As you can see, being a tailor for the mob is basically as dangerous as actually being in the mob. This brings up an important life lesson. Really, just don’t do anything for the mob. Don’t make their outfits, don’t cook for them, don’t sell them real estate. According to movies, you will almost certainly get caught up in their shenanigans no matter how innocent your profession is. Let THE OUTFIT serve as a warning.

Mark Rylance, star of virtually every Steven Spielberg film for the last decade, plays the tailor, and it looks like he lends the story the gentle calm we’ve come to expect from the actor.  Zoey Deutch (ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP) plays his assistant, who also might have some secrets to divulge.

On the mob side, you have THE MAZE RUNNER’s Dylan O’Brien and EMMA’s Johnny Flynn.

The tailor made the outfit, of course. (OK, that's the last time we're going to do that. Promise.)

THE OUTFIT will be the directorial debut of Graham Moore, screenwriter of THE IMITATION GAME. Moore also co-wrote THE OUTFIT with writer and actor Jonathan McLain.
