Spider-Man is swinging back into theaters. Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon return to the MCU as the stars of SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME, which features a major movie first for the character. The movie shows what life is like for Peter Parker after his heroic identity is exposed, which has never happened in Spider-man’s cinematic history.
Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-man), Zendaya (MJ) and Batalon (Ned Leeds) sat down with us to talk about what Parker was going through as he's thrust into the spotlight.
"[He’s] going through it!" Zendaya exclaimed.
"Yeah, going through it. It’s a whole mixed bag of emotions, he’s probably terrified that everyone knows who he is," Holland said, adding also that "there’s probably a side of him that’s quite excited that he’s famous. I think everyone to some degree wants to be famous and then they become famous and then like, oh, this is what being famous is like."
In NO WAY HOME, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) plays a pretty major role. The Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wants to help Spider-Man once after the young hero's identity is exposed but warns that conducting a certain spell could cause some unintended consequences.
"It’s pretty amazing, I think if you’re a big fan, I think it’s a big deal," said Batalon. "And it’s pretty cool that all the New York superheroes get to be together. That’s a really awesome thing for sure." Zendaya weighed in, saying: "It’s special for us because I feel like - well at least for me - feel like I don't get to be a part of the Spider-Man side of things, I’m always a part of the Peter side of things, so now I get to really be in the Spider-Man stuff."
Throughout the movie, Spider-Man must face several of his toughest villains — some from past movie incarnations of the character. Watch the full interview for SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME and see who Tom Holland says is his favorite foe:
