In 2018, SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE was the biggest breath of fresh air that studio animation had seen in decades. In 2023, ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE continued the story of Miles Morales, who takes over the mantle of Spider-Man in his corner of the multiverse, meets many other Spider-people, and travels across layers of reality in pursuit of The Spot, a strange and powerful madman.
The second movie ended on a cliffhanger, with (spoiler) Miles trapped in a strange universe where he confronts a twisted version of himself. Meanwhile, Gwen Stacy recruits a team of Spiders, including Peter B. Parker, Mayday, Pavitr Prabhakar, Hobie Brown, Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker, and Spider-Ham, to search for Miles.
Now, we're waiting for more information on SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE, which will finish the story and reveal whether or not Miles Morales is able to save his father and continue to exist as Spider-Man.
What's the Release Date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse?
No release date is set for BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE. At one point, the movie was set for March 2024, but the amount of work required to complete ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, combined with the dual writer and actors strikes of 2023, meant that the movie could never be ready for that release window. After the strikes ended in late 2023, work resumed on the movie, with voice recording of actors in full swing in December 2023.
In June 2023, producer Phil Lord said, "I would say that just like we're going to take the time necessary to make Beyond the Spider-Verse great," and producer Chris Miller followed up with "and we won't back into a release date that doesn't fit."
When a release date is set for BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE, we'll let you know!
Is There a Trailer for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse?

What's the Story in Beyond the Spider-Verse?
We're going to reveal a lot of details from the first two movies here, so skip down to the next section if you haven't seen those yet and don't want to learn some of the big story beats here!
Let's set things up: The movie INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE introduced Miles Morales and his family. His mom, Rio, is a nurse, while his dad, Jefferson, is a cop. His uncle, Aaron, is estranged from the family and turns out to be the villain known as Prowler. The fact that Miles has not lost any family members due to violent or tragic circumstances makes him unique among Spider-People, many of whom changed their path through life after a tragic event.
The villain Kingpin, meanwhile, has lost family members, and is trying to open a portal to other dimensions where his late wife and child may still be alive. To do this, he manipulates an experimental supercollider which also helps bring other Spider-people into Miles's world. One battle over the supercollider results in the death of that world's original Spider-Man. In ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE we learn that another battle mutated scientist Johnathon Ohnn, giving him control over dimensional portals and driving him mad. He becomes The Spot, and he's fixated on exacting vengeance from Miles Morales for his own transformation.
Now Miles has met and reluctantly been accepted into a society of Spider-people from across thousands of dimensions. "Reluctantly" because society leader Miguel O'Hara knows that Miles Morales has not experienced a "canon event," i.e. the death of a loved one, to forge his future as a Spider. He has seen Miles disrupt another canon event which nearly results in the dismantling of an entire universe, and knows that Miles hopes to prevent his own canon event — the murder of his father Jefferson by The Spot — from happening.
So The Spot wants to destroy Miles and/or kill his father. Miguel O'Hara wants to preserve the stability of thousands of universes and is willing to do nearly anything to achieve his goal. Miles, trapped by The Spot in an alternate reality where he is the villainous Prowler, wants to save his father and forge his own destiny as Spider-Man. And Miles's friends want to save Miles.
Who's in the Cast of Beyond the Spider-Verse?
Many actors return to roles they originated in the previous two movies. Shameik Moore plays Miles; Hailee Steinfeld is Gwen Stacy; Jake Johnson is Peter B. Parker; Brian Tyree Henry is Jefferson; Luna Lauren Vélez is Rio; Jason Schwartzman is The Spot; Karan Soni is Spider-Man India; Daniel Kaluuya is Hobie Brown; Nicolas Cage is Spider-Man Noir; John Mulaney is Spider-Ham and Oscar Isaac is Miguel O'Hara.
We expect to hear about many other recurring characters; Liev Schreiber is likely to return as Kingpin, for example. And there will likely be at least a few new cast members, too, but they have not yet been announced.
The Beyond the Spider-Verse Filmmakers
Creators, co-writers and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller once again guide the creation of the new movie. ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson return as well, to direct from a screenplay by Lord, Miller, and Dave Callaham.
