Actor Michael B. Jordan and filmmaker Ryan Coogler came up together. Beginning with FRUITVALE STATION, moving on to CREED and then to BLACK PANTHER, the duo quickly moved from indies to the big leagues with just a few strides. (That's how it looked to us, anyway; it was probably a lot harder than we're making it sound.)
Now Jordan and Coogler return with the mysterious horror movie SINNERS. We know that Jordan plays twin brothers, and that the movie is a period piece set in the early 20th century. Warner Bros. pitches it as "a new vision of fear," and you can see the first trailer now.
What Is the Sinners Release Date?
Warner Bros. Pictures will release SINNERS in movie theaters on March 7, 2025.

This trailer is all about images and a sense of encroaching horror. We know virtually nothing about SINNERS, and this trailer doesn't clear anything up. You'd think Jordan playing twin brothers would be a real focus for this trailer — actors playing twins is always a major selling point — but there are really only a couple of shots that highlight that aspect.
Still, it's a powerful trailer. The music, the editing, and the images all get the idea of conflict and horror across. Particularly, the image of Jordan firing a Tommy gun, and people dancing in the still-fiery remains of a burned-out juke joint are striking.
So what's really going on here?
What Is the Plot of Sinners?
Here's the thing: We really don't know what SINNERS is about. Warner Bros. is saying very little about the movie right now, and the SINNERS trailer clearly avoids the question of what the movie is really about. Officially, the synopsis is: "Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back."
Clearly there's a lot more than that. What is the "even greater evil" waiting for the brothers? We know this is a horror movie, but what's up with the masses of people we see encroaching on the dance hall? What are Jordan's characters afraid of? Is it supernatural or something human? We don't know!
Who's in the Cast of Sinners?
Clearly, Michael B. Jordan is the star of the show as brothers Elijah and Elias. Alongside Jordan is an array of heavy hitters including Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson, and Delroy Lindo.
The cast also features Li Jun Li, Lola Kirke, Yao, Miles Caton, Peter Dreimanis, Christian Robinson, and Jermaine Mctizic.
SINNERS opens on March 7, 2025.
