Life has been hard since the world ended. We don't know what happened to society in NEVER LET GO, but it has left families scrabbling to survive using any means necessary. Halle Berry stars as a woman who literally leashes herself and her kids to their house in order to protect them all from.. what exactly?
The first trailer for NEVER LET GO suggests that there are many monsters in the woods around the characters' home, but it also suggests that maybe Berry's character is going a little bit overboard in her urge to shelter her kids. Lionsgate will release NEVER LET GO in movie theaters on September 20, 2024.

With an isolated family using strange means to survive in a world of monsters, there's a real QUIET PLACE vibe to this first trailer for NEVER LET GO. But there's also the suggestion that there's more going on, even beyond the metaphorical aspect of Berry's character trying to keep her kids from the dangers of life.
Some of that is thanks to the direction, which is by French horror maestro Alexandre Aja.
Never Let Go Is From the Director of High Tension
Alexandre Aja made his big horror break with the movie HAUTE TENSION, aka HIGH TENSION. That slasher movie was a story of misplaced love, obsession, and unreliable perspective. Since then, Aja has made big, bloody movies like PIRANHA 3D and the still-underrated CRAWL.
Here, Aja works from a script by Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby. Their script had originally attracted director Mark Romanek — also a filmmaker who is attracted to thrillers with unusual stories and stricture. While Romanek left the project, Aja's direction has us excited for both the twists and aspects of horror that are clearly embedded in the story.
Who's in the Cast of Never Let Go?
The star of NEVER LET GO is clearly Halle Berry, whose interest in genre movies goes back to the early days of her acting career and has continued through films like JOHN WICK 3: PARABELLUM. She is joined by Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins as her sons. Then there are characters played by Matthew Kevin Anderson, Christin Park, and Stephanie Lavigne, but so far we do not know too much about their roles. Given the mysterious nature of the story, we'd rather let the film inform us!
