For a whole population of Disney fans, LILO & STITCH might be the first Disney movie they saw in theaters, or the first new one they fell in love with at home. While it wasn't the biggest hit at the time, the movie, about a lonely young girl and the nearly-feral alien she befriends, has become something like a Disney cult classic.
Now a live-action version is on the way! LILO & STITCH 2025 is coming this summer, and we've got the first teaser trailer.

There's a brief teaser for LILO & STITCH 2025. It does not show us very much, but it does show the alien Stitch in action, running around a beach. It's enough to suggest that his aspect of the movie will very much connect to what a lot of audiences loved about the original.

Disney Is Once Again Putting Stitch Into Other Movie Teasers
When the original LILO & STITCH was coming out, Disney made a few teasers for the movie that put Stitch into other famous Disney scenes. They're doing the same thing this time, and a LION KING-themed teaser is the first. You can see that above, and there will probably be a few more between now and May.
Who Is Playing Lilo in the Live-Action Lilo & Stitch?
Maia Kealoha plays the six-year old Lilo Pelekai in LILO & STITCH 2025. She's a new talent whose first big role will be in this movie. Soon she'll also be seen in THE WRECKING CREW, with Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa and Morena Baccarin.
Who Else Is in the Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Cast?
Well, while this is a live-action movie, there are a lot of CG-animated characters, starting with one of the title roles. Perhaps the most important cast member is Chris Sanders, who directed the animated LILO & STITCH, and who voiced Stitch in the original movie. He provides the dog-like little alien's voice once again in the new movie.
Sydney Agudong plays Lilo's older sister and guardian, Nani Pelekai. Zach Galifianakis voices the alien Dr. Jumba Jookiba, who created Stitch. Billy Magnussen voices Agent Pleakley, who is on Earth to prevent Dr. Jookiba from doing any damage while he tracks down Stitch.
The cast also features Kaipo Dudoit, Courtney B. Vance, and Tia Carrere, who voiced Nani in the original movie and voices social worker Mrs. Kekoa this time. Hannah Waddingham voices the alien Grand Councilwoman, and Amy Hill voices a character written for this new version of the story. And Jason Scott Lee, who also voiced a role in the original movie, has a role here, too.
LILO & STITCH opens on May 23.
