It's relatively rare that one filmmaker is responsible for all the films in a major movie series. THE HUNGER GAMES gets pretty close, as director Francis Lawrence, working with producer Nina Jacobson, made three of the original four movies in the series. (Gary Ross directed the first movie, released in 2012.) Now Lawrence and Jaconson have re-teamed for THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES, which adapts the prequel novel by Suzanne Collins.
BALLAD is a muscular and energetic return for the series. We talked to the director and producer about casting and crafting a prequel to the series that fans know and love.
