Filmmaker Guy Ritchie has always made idiosyncratic movies — and memorable ones! Movies like SNATCH, the SHERLOCK HOLMES films, and even his ALADDIN remake all have a unique verve that is recognizably Ritchie.
His war movie switches things up considerably — and ironically, it's the one that has his name in the title. GUY RITCHIE'S THE COVENANT does not look like a Guy Ritchie movie at first glance. We talked to stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim, who play an American soldier and an Afghan interpreter, to get a sense of how this movie marks a point of divergence for the director — and why they all thought the story had to be told.
