Dante, Randal, Jay and Silent Bob are back in CLERKS III. The latest (final? maybe, but maybe not) chapter in the movie series that began with CLERKS, in 1994, reunites the New Jersey crew for a story about chasing your dreams. That chase is exactly what writer/director/co-star Kevin Smith did decades ago when he made the original movie, and what he has inspired other people to do in the years since.
CLERKS III does not ignore the passage of time. The movie embraces changes and difficulties experienced by the characters. In fact, it picks up with Randal suffering a heart attack, and how that experience makes him determined to make a movie instead of passively watching them.
How Can You See Clerks III?
Kevin Smith is taking CLERKS III on the road for an old-fashioned roadshow presentation, which means that it is playing a limited series of theaters in the US and Canada throughout the month of September. But it will also appear exclusively in theatres via Fathom Events on September 13 and 15 — and tickets for those shows are available now!

All the familiar elements are here, but there's a level of reality that makes this movie seem more poignant than the last CLERKS outing. Randal's heart attack parallels the health crisis Kevin Smith suffered in real life. Randal's determination to move forward with a big project is also akin to the renewed lease on life that has powered Smith after surviving his own heart attack.
Kevin Smith's Comments About Clerks III
Almost exactly a year ago, in July 2021, Kevin Smith talked about moving forward with CLERKS III.
He said then, "There’s a saying from the Tao that goes something like ‘To be great is to go on. To go on is to go far. To go far is to return.’ Thanks to Lionsgate, we get to return to where it all started with almost the whole cast that started it all! And for the first time since the first time we ever made a movie in 1993, we’re shooting the entire flick on location in New Jersey, as an ode to both the enduring allure of cinema and the resourcefulness and lunacy of its storytellers. Years ago, Dante and Randal made me a filmmaker – so now it’s time I return the favor."
