Esports at Cinemark: Play Video Games at a Movie Theater

When you're gaming, sometimes the best way to play is on the biggest screen possible. And while you might have a large TV at home, playing video games on a movie theater screen is a totally different experience. Cinemark's Esports league offers gamers access to unique video game tournaments — and the chance to play video games at a movie theater, with state of the art image projection and sound.
Our Esports league isn't just about playing games on the big screen, however. Diving into Esports through Cinemark's organization — and our partnership with the Mission Control app — allows players to build teams and communities with other movie lovers. Read on to learn more about our video game tournaments and movie-themed competitions.
Esports at Cinemark
Beginning in April, we will offer a series of 6-week video game competition leagues, with prizes from Cinemark Theatres and our partners. Competitive matches will take place with a variety of team structures across several titles. Players will have to register for each game separately, with a nominal fee per title.
You can play 3v3 in "Apex Legends," 2v2 in "Warzone" and "Rocket League," and 1x1 in "Super Smash Bros." and "Hearthstone."
Weekly matches — always held on the same weekday for each title — will determine the top four teams per title. Single-elimination playoffs will determine the three
Players will register and pay to participate in each individual game and compete in weekly matches to identify the top 4 teams from each league. From there, players will be placed into a competitive, single-elimination playoff format to identify 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers for each title.
Movie-Themed Video Game Tournaments
In addition to our core Esports league, we also have movie-themed competitions scheduled throughout the year.
For the release of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2, we're presenting the Sonic the Hedgehog Cup, which takes place on April 5 and 6. Register by April 3 to compete in time trials featuring "Sonic Colors Ultimate." Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places, all tracked via the Mission Control app and Cinemark Esports organization.
