There just aren't enough movies about dinosaurs! Or at least, there aren't enough movies with dinosaurs in them. One could argue that most of the dino movies out there really aren't "about" the creatures exactly. Regardless, with the JURASSIC WORLD movies standing like megalithic structures over the movie landscape, who's going to make a smaller movie where a big-name star battles the giant beasts from Earth's past?
Scott Beck and Bryan Woods are going to! They wrote A QUIET PLACE, and they're working with producer Sam "EVIL DEAD" Raimi on this movie. Adam Driver is on board, too, to play the guy who has do deal with the thunder lizards. Let's have a look at the trailer for 65 and we'll talk about what this big-time b-movie has going for it.
When Can We See 65?

As a movie project, 65 has been kicking around for a while; it's part of with might be the last phase of movies affected by the pandemic to hit theatres. In all that time, however, most of what we knew was "sci-fi thriller with Adam Driver." It doesn't take long before this trailer makes clear what the movie's title is all about — and just in case you didn't guess before the reveal, the on-screen text spells it out with no room for mystery.
In other words, yep, Driver's character somehow ends up millions of years in Earth's past, There are no people on the planet at this point. It's a dinos-only zone, or so it seems.
What Is 65 About?
If you're asking this question we're guessing you had to watch the trailer with the sound off — but even then the story should be clear. Adam Driver After a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet, pilot Mills (Adam Driver) quickly discovers he’s actually stranded on Earth…65 million years ago. Now, with only one chance at rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa (Ariana Greenblatt), must make their way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures in an epic fight to survive.
The Cast of 65
Adam Driver obviously leads the cast of 65 as Mills, the pilot of a ship which crashes on prehistoric Earth. He's joined by Ariana Greenblatt (LOVE AND MONSTERS) as Koa, the one additional survivor of the crash.
Chloe Coleman (DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: HONOR AMONG THIEVES) and Nika King ("Euphoria") are also in the movie, but we don't know much about their roles. The trailer suggests a story with few additional characters, but there might be some surprises.
The Filmmakers Behind 65
Scott Beck and Bryan Woods wrote and directed 65, which follows their slasher movie HAUNT, and their script for A QUIET PLACE. The success of A QUIET PLACE is almost certainly what helped get 65 moving forward. The only problem was the pandemic — deals for 65 were made in the spring of 2020, and the movie filmed in 2021.
You can easily see some of the sensibilities from A QUIET PLACE on display in the trailer for 65. The family unit may be improvised here but that element, the tense atmosphere, and the fight for survival against deadly creatures are all points in common. Here, the filmmakers get to explore those ideas in the context of a pulpy monster movie.
