The efforts of one person can change the world, not only by positively impacting the life of individuals around them, but by inspiring far more people to use their own talents and energy to uplift others.

SIGHT tells the story of one such person. Ming Wang grew up in China, and eventually escaped dire living conditions to study ophthalmology. Ultimately, he developed new treatments with the potential to give sight to some blind people. Here's the trailer for SIGHT, and more detail about the movie's background.

What's the Sight Release Date?

Angel Studios will release SIGHT exclusively in movie theaters on May 24, 2024.

Watch the Sight Trailer

This trailer for SIGHT lays out, in detail, many of the movie's major points without revealing all of the emotional travails and leaps of faith that lead the central characters to decisions that change lives.

Is Sight a True Story?

As the trailer indicates, yes, SIGHT is based on a true story. The movie is based on "From Darkness to Sight," Dr. Ming Wang's 2016 autobiography.

The movie's director, Andrew Hyatt, says that his own family history played into his desire to tell this story. "I am humbled and thrilled to be a part of bringing Dr. Wang's incredible true-life story to the screen. The universal themes of hope and endurance will undoubtedly resonate with audiences around the world. My grandmother grew up in Shanghai and to be able to honor her in some way by telling a story that echoes her own experience is a very special opportunity."

Who's in the Cast of Sight?

Terry Chen stars as Dr. Ming Wang. He's joined by Greg Kinnear, who plays Wang's colleague Dr. Misha Bartnovsky. Ben Wang plays Dr. Ming Wang at several earlier periods in life. And Irish actress Fionnula Flanagan appears as Sister Marie, who is fundamental to this particular part of Wang's story.

Sight Continues the Angel Studios Pay it Forward Program

As with the studio's hit SOUND OF FREEDOM, Angel Studios is offering audiences a chance to buy tickets for others using the studio's Pay It Forward program.

SIGHT opens on May 24.
