Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) FAQs
2FA adds an extra layer of security to your account in addition to your password. When you sign in to your Cinemark account from a new device for the first time, you will enter your password along with a unique authentication code that’s sent to the email address associated with your account.
2FA adds an extra layer of security to your Cinemark account, allowing you to verify any new devices signing in to your account, even if someone else knows your password. For your security, we recommend enabling 2FA.
When you’re logged in, look for “Two-Factor Authentication” in your account settings. Select “Enable Two-Factor Authentication” and follow the prompts. You will need access to the email address associated with your account to complete enrollment.
Once you have enabled 2FA, you will sign in as usual with your email address and password. Then you will receive a prompt to enter your 2FA code. The unique authentication code will be sent to the email address associated with your account. You will receive a new code each time you sign In, unless you choose to remember that device (see more on that below).
You will be required to enter a 2FA code any time you sign in on a new device. When signing in, you have the option to remember that device. If you choose to remember the device, you won’t need to enter a 2FA code next time you sign in using that same device. Devices will be remembered for up to 6 months before they need to be authenticated again.
If you have chosen to remember devices when signing in with 2FA, you can manage and remove those devices at any time. When signed in, go to your account settings. Under “Two-Factor Authentication” choose “Manage Approved Devices”. You will see all the devices you have approved, along with the last time they were used to sign in, and the option to remove them from your account. If you remove a device and sign in on that same device in the future, you will be required to enter a 2FA code.
If you receive an email from Cinemark with a 2FA code and have not recently attempted to sign in, we highly recommend you change your password immediately. Do not give your 2FA code to anyone. Cinemark will never call you to request your 2FA code.
We highly recommend keeping 2FA enabled for your security. However, if you wish to disable it, you may do so by visiting your account settings. Under “Two-Factor Authentication” choose “Disable Two-Factor Authentication”.
If you have 2FA enabled on your account, you can sign in on approved devices using only your email address and password. Approved devices are those you chose to remember when previously signing in with 2FA. If you are signing in to a new device and can’t access your email, you will not be able to complete the sign in process. If you are not seeing the 2FA email in your inbox, be sure to check your spam or junk folders. For more help, please contact us.
