After years of waiting, TOY STORY 5 is coming out! It's not coming soon, exactly, as the sequel to Pixar's flagship animated series is set for a 2026 release. But the movie is definitely coming. Tom Hanks will be in TOY STORY 5, and chances look good for Tim Allen to return as well.
It's too early to tell you a lot about the movie, but we know a few big things about TOY STORY 5. Here's everything we know so far.

While Disney has released some TOY STORY-related material on streaming, TOY STORY 5 will be released exclusively in movie theaters.

Pixar and Disney will release TOY STORY 5 on June 19, 2026.
Is There a Trailer for Toy Story 5?
There is no trailer for TOY STORY 5 right now. We haven't seen any real footage from the movie yet. The only thing we have from the movie is the image above, which was revealed at D23 in August 2024.
What's the Plot of Toy Story 5?
TOY STORY 5 director Andrew Stanton has briefly discussed the plot of the movie, saying "in all of the TOY STORY films, above anything else the job of the toys has been to be there for their kids. And with TOY STORY 5, the toys jobs get exponentially harder, when our toy crew goes head to head with what kids are obsessed with today: electronics."
Look at that one image released for the movie — which might merely be concept art — and you'll see that the toys are looking at a kid using an iPad under the covers at night.
Is Woody Really Back for Toy Story 5?
Well, we know that Tom Hanks is back. Which does suggest the return of his character, Woody. But TOY STORY 4 paid a very nice goodbye to Woody, who went off on his own to live with no owner. What does that mean for the new movie? We're not sure!
It's possible that TOY STORY 5 will feature some radical ideas to bring Hanks and Woody back into the fold.
Who Is the Bad Guy in Toy Story 5?
The question of a villain in TOY STORY 5 is huge. These movies don't always have bad guys, exactly. They have characters whose ideas about what's best are very different from the toys. Either way, we don't know anything specific about who the toys will face in TOY STORY 5. But that comment from Andrew Stanton makes us wonder if familiar characters might turn up in a series or video game that siphons attention away from the toys themselves.
Will Tim Allen Return as Buzz Lightyear?
The image released for TOY STORY 5 shows Buzz, and we know that Pixar has reached out to Tim Allen to return to the series. But we do not know whether or not he has said yes.
Tim Allen has said that the "writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better ones and said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it.’ It could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it."
