There just aren't enough Keke Palmer movies. Granted, that's because she is exceptionally busy with music and TV, but it's always so good to see Palmer up on the big screen that we're excited for more. NOPE has turned into a regular rewatch and HUSTLERS remains an underrated favorite.
Fortunately, 2025 starts off with a new Keke Palmer comedy, ONE OF THEM DAYS. The movie teams her with music artist SZA, with the two playing a couple of super-broke friends who are desperate to come up with rent money so they can make it through one more month of striving for success in Los Angeles. I've never seen a credit score this low! There's so much in this trailer for ONE OF THEM DAYS that is familiar to anyone who has struggled to pay bills while working a terrible job or while even trying to get a basic gig in the first place. And it's got the incredible energy and chemistry of Keke Palmer and SZA to make it all seem a lot more entertaining than these situations ever are in real life.
Who's in the Cast of One of Them Days?
Keke Palmer and SZA star as Dreux and Alyssa, friends and roommates who are constantly striving for something bigger and better in LA.
Alongside that duo is a cast of great comedy players, including veteran Vanessa Bell Calloway, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, strong>Joshua Neal, and Aziza Scott.
The cast also features Patrick Cage, Dewayne Perkins, Amin Joseph, Gabrielle Dennis, Dominque Perry, Janelle James, and Lil Rel Howery.
One of Them Days Comes From the Creators of Insecure
Issa Rae produced ONE OF THEM DAYS, with a script by Syreeta Singleton, who scripted many episodes of Rae's fantastic HBO series, "Insecure." It seems like there's a pretty clear throughline from that series to this movie. And the director of ONE OF THEM DAYS is Lawrence Lamont, who makes his feature directing debut with the movie. But he was also a director on the HBO series "Rap Sh!t," which was created by Issa Rae and for which Syreeta Singleton served as showrunner.
And while we're tracking collaborations that led to this movie, we also recall that Keke Palmer and SZA were guests together on "Saturday Night Live" in December of 2022, when Palmer was the host and SZA appeared as the musical guest.
ONE OF THEM DAYS opens on January 17.
