For Mother's Day, Take Mom to the Movies!

(Updated 04/22/2024)

Online lists of “best movies for Mother’s Day” all seem to feature a lot of choices that reinforce a specific idea of what mom might like. But what if Mom’s favorite movie is DIE HARD or PULP FICTION? We know moms that would name both of those as their faves.

So rather than suggesting specific movies for mom, we’d like to offer a more simple Mother’s Day gift idea: Take mom to the movies! At Cinemark, we can give everyone's mom a break in the comfort of our auditoriums.

When Is Mother's Day 2024?

This year, Mother's Day falls on Sunday, May 12.

You can purchase and deliver a Mother’s Day gift in the form of convenient gift cards. If Mom is a regular movie-goer, set her up with a Movie Club membership for a gift that keeps giving all year long!

Select Cinemark locations offer dine-in service and alcoholic beverages. Make your movie outing a special trip by visiting one of the Cinemark locations with a restaurant for lunch or dinner and movie combination with your family. And with our Snacks in a Tap program, you can even order concessions while buying tickets and have them delivered directly to seats during the showtime!

New Movies Playing for Mother's Day 2024

There's only one big new movie opening on Mother's Day weekend this year, and it doesn't exactly conform to a stereotypical assumption of what mom wants to watch.

Kingdom of the Planet of the ApesKingdom of the Planet of the Apes | Cinemark

Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike. “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Wes Ball (the “Maze Runner” trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (“Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”).

Still in Theatres

In addition to those new movies, many big titles will still be in theaters on Mothers Day Weekend 2024. The romantic triangle of CHALLENGERS will still be playing, as will THE FALL GUY and TAROT.

The Fall GuyThe Fall Guy | Cinemark

He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right? From real life stunt man and director David Leitch, the blockbuster director of Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, and Atomic Blonde comes his most personal film yet.

TarotTarot | Cinemark

When a group of friends recklessly violates the sacred rule of Tarot readings – never use someone else’s deck – they unknowingly unleash an unspeakable evil trapped within the cursed cards. One by one, they come face to face with fate and end up in a race against death to escape the future foretold in their readings.

ChallengersChallengers | Cinemark

Tennis player turned coach Tashi (Zendaya) has taken her husband, Art (Mike Faist), and transformed him into a world-famous grand slam champion. To jolt him out of his recent losing streak, she makes him play a “Challenger” event — close to the lowest level of pro tournament — where he finds himself standing across the net from his former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend (Josh O’Connor).

Check your local listings for the full movie lineup and showtimes, and give mom a relaxing day or night out at the movies!
