00 Deliver Me From Nowhere Bruce Springsteen Movie Hero

Deliver Me From Nowhere Is the First Bruce Springsteen Biopic

1/16/2025 • 2 min read

Bruce Springsteen is an icon. A rock and roll legend whose three-hour concerts with the E Street Band are like musical marathons, and whose songs chronicle American life in ways that are both poetic and pointedly direct. Springsteen became a phenomenon thanks to "Born in the U.S.A.," released in 1984, and his standing has only grown in the decades that followed.

DELIVER ME FROM NOWHERE, the first biopic movie about Bruce Springsteen, is not about "Born in the U.S.A." or his era of mega-stardom. The movie finds the Boss at an artistic crossroads that lead to a stripped-down solo album unlike anything he had done before — or anything he's made since.

Springsteen has been inspired by movies ("Thunder Road"); there have been movies based on Springsteen songs (THE INDIAN RUNNER); and even one inspired by his legacy (BLINDED BY THE LIGHT). But there's never been a Springsteen biopic, until now. Here's everything we know about DEVILER ME FROM NOWHERE.

When Does Deliver Me From Nowhere Come Out?

20th Century Studios will release DELIVER ME FROM NOWHERE in movie theaters, and, according to the studio, it will be out in 2025. No final date has been set yet. It's possible that the movie will be at festivals in the fall before a late fall or early winter release.

Is There a Trailer for the Bruce Springsteen Movie?

There is no trailer for DELIVER ME FROM NOWHERE at this point. Only one image has been released so far, and we haven't seen any footage. The movie was scheduled to wrap production in mid-January, but we don't have a timeline for a trailer.

Which Springsteen Album Is Deliver Me From Nowhere About?

The Bruce Springsteen movie chronicles the lead-up to and recording of "Nebraska," which was his sixth record. Released in 1982, two years before the chart-topping "Born in the U.S.A.," "Nebraska" is a very different album. Spare, unpolished and bleak, the album is entirely unlike the sort of music created by other major-label artists in the early 1980s.

Springsteen recorded all the songs for "Nebraska" as home demos — just him and a guitar and a four-track recorded in his bedroom.

Who's in the Cast of Deliver Me From Nowhere?

In DELIVER ME FROM NOWHERE, Bruce Springsteen is played by Jeremy Allen White, the actor whose profile rose dramatically after starring in the first season of "The Bear." Opposite White is Jeremy Strong of "Succession" as journalist turned manager Jon Landau.

Additionally, the movie features Stephen Graham and Gaby Hoffmann as the signer's parents, Douglas and Adele Springsteen. Odessa Young plays the fictional character Faye, who acts as Springsteen's romantic interest in the movie. Whether she is a composite of real people or purely fictional is unknown as of yet.

Paul Walter Hauser plays recording engineer Mike Batlan. Harrison Gilbertson, Marc Maron and David Krumholtz have roles as well.

And Johnny Cannizzaro appears as Steven Van Zandt, the character who may even be more immediately recognizable than Springsteen thanks to his work as an actor on shows like "Lillyhammer" and "The Sopranos." Van Zandt is a longtime friend of Springsteen, dating to before his work as part of the E Street Band.

The Jon Landau in Deliver Me From Nowhere Is Not Avatar Producer Jon Landau

We're not going to spend a lot of time on this, but for the sake of people who are more movie fans than music fans it's worth a few words. A man named Jon Landau was a big part of Springsteen's early career. There's also the late Jon Landau who produced movies for James Cameron, including TITANIC and the AVATAR movies. While it would be amazing if one person did all that, they are different people!
