Connections is changing its name and becoming the Movie Fan tier of Cinemark Movie Rewards. We are also changing the way points are earned.
No changes are being made to the benefits you have as a Movie Club member; we’re just making it a part of the larger Cinemark Movie Rewards program.
You’ll earn one point for every dollar spent for purchases made at www.cinemark.com, through the Cinemark app, at the theatre, and through select ticketing partners. Every time you make a purchase online or in the app, sign in to your Cinemark Movie Rewards account and the points you earn will be calculated based on the eligible products you are purchasing.
For purchases made at the theatre, scan the QR code for your account while making your purchase. You can also provide the mobile phone number or email address associated with your account to earn points for the purchase you make.
To earn points through third-party ticketing sites (like Fandango) add your Cinemark Movie Rewards account number to your profile and your points will be added within 24 hours.
Ineligible products include all alcoholic beverages and products, and purchases of gift cards. Purchases using gift cards will still earn points at the 1 point per dollar rate.
Points will be issued pre-tax and rounded up/down to the next whole dollar (e.g., for $8.49, you earn 8 points and $8.50, you earn 9 points).
Members can earn a maximum of 500 points in a single 24 hour period. There is no limit to the number of points you can have on your account.
Yes, unused points expire at the end of the month one year from issuance. For example, if you earned 20 points on January 8, 2019 and didn’t use them, they will expire on January 31, 2020. Points are used on a “first in, first out” basis, so the points that are closest to expiring will be the first used when redeemed for a reward.
There may be promotional periods or offers that may provide opportunities for members to earn bonus points. You can subscribe to email communications to receive notifications for any promotional opportunities.
For members that make a purchase at the theatre, it may take up to 30 minutes for points to show up on the account. For advance ticket purchases, points are not applied to the account until the showtime for the ticket purchased has passed. If a ticket purchase is refunded, the number of points earned for that purchase are deducted from the outstanding balance on the account.
You can view your point balance and the available rewards on your account. To redeem points for a reward, click on the image for the reward you’d like. If you have enough points for the reward, you just click the “Redeem” button and complete the redemption.
Redeemed rewards will populate in the “Your Rewards” section of your account on the app and website. These rewards are also accessible through the “Rewards” panel of your member dashboard.
Any available ticket credits will populate in the “Credits” panel of your member dashboard. The number shown indicates the total number available. You can use these credits online and in the theatre. To use credits online: add the tickets for your preferred showtime while signed in to your Cinemark Movie Rewards account. During checkout, there is a checkbox asking if you’d like to use your available credits. This box is checked by default and will apply the necessary number of credits to the transaction based on what is available for your account. If you do not want to use your Credits in a particular transaction, just un-check the box and the Credits will not be applied. You will then have to pay the full value of the ticket in dollars. To use the credits at the theatre: Before completing your transaction, tell the theatre employee that you’d like to use your available Credits to purchase your tickets. They will ask for your loyalty account and complete the transaction for you.
Movie Fan members earn 1 point per dollar spent at our theatres, and get access to all of the rewards of the Cinemark Movie Rewards program. They also get to enjoy the incredible benefits of a free refill per item per day on large popcorns and drinks, plus a special birthday reward. They’ll also receive personalized, member-exclusive offers via e-mail and in-theatre just for being a part of Cinemark Movie Rewards.
For a monthly $8.99 (plus applicable taxes), Movie Club members get one 2D rollover ticket credit per month, a 20% discount on all concessions anytime, waived online fees for all online transactions with Cinemark, and special pricing on additional tickets. They also get all of the benefits of a Movie Fan member.
We are testing Cinemark Movie Rewards on an invitation-only basis in the markets of Pittsburgh, PA, Columbus, OH, Springfield, MA, and Hazlet, NJ beginning January 18, 2019. At this time, only existing Connections and Movie Club members in these markets are being invited to participate in the test. New members will not be able to join.
Subject to additional testing, we may expand the test of Cinemark Movie Rewards into additional markets in March 2019, at which time new members in our test area will be invited to participate in the test and new enrollments in the Movie Rewards Program will be possible.
The full program is intended to be nationwide in May 2019.
